Humble and Atascocita
Small Town Charm, Big Eats
The area known as Humble, Atascocita and Kingwood (including Lake Houston) is a well-kept and family-friendly group of neighborhoods just outside of Houston City Limits – an area that continues to boom. Because they are such family-friendly areas of town, there is always so much to see and do – from exciting date nights to kid-friendly activities around the community.
Humble in particular is a unique part of town with its 130-year old history, much of which is still visible today. It’s a city that has continued to grow and boom, but remains historically in-tact, and is a laid-back hospitable part of town, with more restaurants than you could ever imagine. Anything from big chains to small town family owned and operated food and café joints, you’ll find it all in these bustling suburbs.
A few top restaurants include Humble City Café, Tita’s Taco House, Chuy’s, Fish Place at Atascocita and so much more, depending on what you’re in the mood to eat. Again, because it’s such a family-friendly area, pretty much everywhere is kid-friendly, but of course you can find a romantic night out, or even drive into Downtown Houston as well, which is about a 19-mile drive.
Atascocita is also a great place to raise a family and to visit. In fact, it was recently ranked #4 for best place to raise a family, according to the Houston Chronicle. The area is also booming with new hotels, restaurants and shopping, so you’ll have plenty to keep you busy.
While you’re in the area, you’ll also want to check out The Kingwood Farmers Market Presented by St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School, which is held every Thursday (rain or shine) at Town Center Park in Kingwood from 2 pm to 6 pm (3 pm to 7 pm during Daylight Saving Time). You can find tons of local vendors that bring fresh produce, fresh-baked breads, herbs and spices, plants, flowers, international cuisine and more.
