Super Bowl LI Business Connect Program Decisions

The application process for the Business Connect program is closed. Applications for Super Bowl LI Business Connect (Business Connect) are currently under review. For applicants who applied by the April 30 deadline, applications decisions will be communicated by June 1. Anyone who applied between May 1 and May 31 will receive a decision by the end of June.

Note: Applicants are unable to view or edit their information upon submitting their application. Only applicants who are accepted into the program will be able to edit their information upon receiving notification from the Business Connect team.

FAQ

01 I was accepted into the Business Connect Resource Guide (BCRG); do I have rights or permissions to use Super Bowl logos?

 No. You do NOT have the rights or permission to use the Super Bowl LI Business Connect program, Super Bowl LI Host Committee logo, NFL or any other logos related to Super Bowl LI. 

02 Do you have names or contact information of previous vendors we can speak to about their contracting experience?

Super Bowl LI Business Connect program does not have, nor do we provide, contact information for vendors who were previously used by contractors in other cities.

03 Can I contact purchasers (contractors) to learn more about their expectations and needs?

The Super Bowl LI Business Connect program does not provide contact information for potential buyers. Buyers will contact you directly to request proposals or more information according to their procurement policies.

04 How and when can I announce my business was accepted into the Business Connect Resource Guide?

The Super Bowl LI Business Connect program will provide guidelines for how and when you may message your inclusion in the BCRG. You do NOT have the rights or permission to use the Super Bowl LI Business Connect program, Super Bowl LI Host Committee logo, NFL or any other logos related to Super Bowl LI when discussing your inclusion into the Super Bowl LI Business Connect program.

05 Is there someone I can speak to about why my business wasn’t accepted into the program?

Due to the number of applicants, we cannot discuss why individual applications were not selected.

06 I was accepted into the Super Bowl LI Business Connect program. What happens next?

The Business Connect Resource Guide will be made available to buyers in June. A public version of the Super Bowl LI Business Connect program will also be available at http://businessconnect.housuperbowl.com

07 If I was accepted into the program should I make any additions or changes to my profile?

We recommend everyone accepted into the Business Connect Resource Guide review their profiles and ensure it includes information that will help buyers with their selection process including:

• Website
• Business Profile description (1 paragraph)
• Correct Contact name and phone number
• Logo
• Pictures and other files to showcase your body of work

08 Why was my business not selected for the Business Connect Resource Guide?

Businesses were selected based on the following eligibility criteria:

• Completed profile on our supplier registration portal
• Be in business for a minimum (3) years
• Physical location within the 11 Greater Houston County Regions- Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Walker, Waller
• An established and capable provider of one or more of the goods or services categories listed by the Business Connect program.
• Provide proof of certification OR a pending application with one (1) of the following certification partners: City of Houston Office of Business Opportunity, Houston Minority Supplier Development Council (MBE), City of Houston Office of Business Opportunity, Woman Business Enterprise Alliance (WBE), Vets First Verification Program (DVBE), and National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (LGBTE).

09 My business met all the selection criteria but I was not selected. What can I do?

If your business meets all of the eligibility selection criteria (listed above) and was not selected, please e-mail businessconnect@housuperbowl.com.

10 How will the Business Connect Resource Guide be used? Will my information be shared or sold to any third parties?

The Business Connect Resource Guide is an online, public database of approved and certified businesses that can contract with the NFL, its affiliates and contractors, the Host Committee, or other interested parties for Super Bowl LI. The information will be provided publicly on the Host Committee’s website however the information will not be sold or directly given to third parties outside of those mentioned previously. Use of the Resource Guide to solicit listed businesses is strictly prohibited.

11 Is the NFL and its supplier partners required to use the Business Connect Resource Guide to identify suppliers?

The NFL, its affiliates, contractors nor the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee are not limited nor mandated to use the companies listed in the Business Connect Resource Guide.

12 How can I learn what vendor and contracting opportunities are available?

Businesses that are selected for the Business Connect Resource Guide may be contacted directly by buyers. Additionally, RFPs may be distributed to all Business Connect businesses that provide products or services in the desired category(ies). The procurement process is at the discretion of each buyer.

13 How can I improve my chances of being selected for a contract?

There are no guarantees that contracts will be awarded to businesses listed in the Business Connect Resource Guide. We encourage business owners to be responsive, honest and flexible when working with parties soliciting requests for their RFPs.

14 If I partner with another organization for a contract, does that entity need one of the required certifications as well?

The organization that will serve as the primary contractor and be responsible for carrying out the contract must be certified. While it is ideal and likely that certified businesses may partner for an RFP, it is not required that additional business partners who help fulfill the services or products be certified.

15 What is the timeline for procurement opportunities to begin? How much advance notice is given regarding RFPs and contract awards?

The contracting process may begin as early as June 2016. Each contract and/or RFPs may have varying timing requirements for responses and procurement fulfillment. In the event you are asked to provide a response to an RFP, please review all deadlines to ensure you meet expectations.

16 What are the insurance requirements for program participation?

Contracts and RFPs may call for different insurance requirements. In the event you are asked to provide a response to an RFP, you will be required to provide proof of ability to meet the insurance requirements (if applicable).

17 Is my business limited to providing only one product or service?

No, you are not. If your business provides more than one product or service, you should select the items that your business has the most experience providing. Businesses are listed by their primary category on Resource Guide. The Business Connect team reserves the right to re-classify businesses as deemed more appropriate for the goods and services provided.

18 Who are the certifying organizations?

The Super Bowl LI Business Connect program certification partners include:

• City of Houston Office of Business Opportunity (MBE, WBE),
• Houston Minority Supplier Development Council (MBE),
• Women Business Enterprise Alliance (WBE)
• Vets First Verification Program (DVBE)
• National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC).

19 Are there any additional certifications that will be accepted for participation in the Super Bowl LI Business Connect program?

Participation in the Super Bowl LI Business Connect Program is limited to the outlined business criteria and stated certification partners.

20 I didn’t complete my profile or I forgot to click submit. Can I still submit it?

All applicants were provided detailed instructions for completing their profiles. Additionally, assistance was given to applicants who e-mailed our mailbox prior to the May 31, 2016 deadline.

21 Is there a limited number of participants for the Super Bowl LI Business Connect program?

There is no limit to the number of businesses who can participate in the Resource Guide or general program. Super Bowl LI Business Connect program applicants are vetted by staff according to eligibility criteria and contract needs for inclusion in the Business Resource Guide. Please note however, some events may have a limit for attendance.

22 How can I advertise my business at Super Bowl LI Business Connect events?

We do not offer promotional opportunities for individual businesses through the Super Bowl LI Business Connect program.

23 How can I be a vendor at the next Super Bowl LI Business Connect Expo?

There are no additional Super Bowl LI Business Connect Expos.

24 How can I stop receiving Super Bowl LI Business Connect e-mails?

To unsubscribe from our mailing lists please click the unsubscribe button at the bottom of any e-mail.

25 How can I contact an organization who participated in the April Super Bowl LI Business Connect Resource Expo?

27 How can I pitch my product/venue/service to the NFL, Host Committee or NRG stadium?

The Super Bowl LI Business Connect program is not accepting sales or marketing pitches from suppliers. As contracting opportunities become available, please respond directly to the buyer with your capabilities.

30 I didn't see the product or service I provide listed in the application. What does that mean?

 The products and services listed in the Super Bowl LI Business Connect Program Manual have been provided by the National Football League (NFL) based on prior experience and supplier request. There is no guarantee that additional products or services would be needed beyond those listed in the application nor are there any guarantees that goods and services will be purchased from the categories listed. 

31 Is the NFL and its supplier partners required to use the Super Bowl LI Business Connect resource guide to identify suppliers?

The NFL, its affiliates, contractors nor the Super Bowl LI Host Committee (Host Committee) are not limited nor mandated to using the companies listed in the Super Bowl LI Business Connect Resource Guide.

32 How will the Super Bowl LI Business Connect Resource Guide be used? Will my information be shared or sold to any

33 I am a non-profit that operates a forprofit business. Can I still participate in the Super Bowl LI Business Connect Program?

As a certification-based program, the Super Bowl LI Business Connect is open to entities that can be certified as minority, women, disabled veteran, lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender-owned businesses. Certification in any of these categories requires demonstrating that an individual or group from these categories owns 51% or more of the company. Businesses that meet the qualifications outlined in the Super Bowl LI Business Connect application and the relevant certifications required for participation may participate in the Super Bowl LI Business Connect Program.

34 Who are the certifying organizations?

Business Connect certification partners include: City of Houston – Office of Business Opportunity, Houston Minority Supplier Development Council for minorityowned businesses (MBE), Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance for womenowned businesses (WBE), and the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce for Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, and Transgenderowned businesses (LGBTE). 36 Beyond certification, what else can I expect from participating in the Super Bowl LI Business Connect Program?

37 If I partner with another organization for a contract, does that entity need one of the required certifications as well?

The organization that will serve as the primary contractor responsible for carrying out the contract must be certified. While it is ideal and likely that certified businesses may partner for a contract, it is not required that additional business partners who help fulfill the services or products be certified.

38 My business does not qualify for any of the certifications that you require for Super Bowl LI Business Connect. Can I still participate in other Super Bowl LI Business Connect Opportunities?

Super Bowl LI Business Connect is the primary program used by the NFL, its affiliates and contractors, and the Host Committee to identify local suppliers for Super Bowl LI. Future Playbook for Success workshops will be made exclusively held for participants in the Super Bowl LI Business Connect Resource Guide.

39 How many certifications are required for participation? Does having more than one increase my chances for obtaining a contract?

Businesses are required to show proof of only one of the applicable certifications. However, if the business has proof of more than one of the required certifications, you may list them on your application. Having more than one certification does not increase your chance of obtaining a contract.

40 Does a business have to be physically located in one of the eleven (11) Houston and surrounding county regions to be eligible for participation?

Participation in the Business Connect Program and inclusion in the Business Connect Resource Guide is limited to businesses headquartered within the 11 counties which include: Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Walker, and Waller.

41 My business is new. Does it qualify to participate in the program?

Super Bowl LI Business Connect is open to businesses that have been in business for a minimum of three (3) years in addition to fulfilling all other requirements as detailed in the Super Bowl LI Business Connect Program Eligibility Requirements.

42 Will I receive a confirmation once I submit my application?

Once your application is submitted, no further action is required. Please save or print the confirmation e-mail for your records.

43 I completed my application? Is there anything else I should do?

After your application is submitted it will be reviewed by the Super Bowl LI Business Connect program team. If there are any additional questions regarding your application, you will be contacted by the Super Bowl LI Business Connect program staff. If your organization is selected for inclusion in the Super Bowl LI Business Connect Resource Guide, you will be contacted by June 2016.

44 How can I pitch my product/venue/service to the NFL, Host Committee or NRG Stadium?

The Super Bowl LI Business Connect program is not accepting sales or marketing pitches from vendors. For consideration as a vendor, please complete the application and certification requirements. As contracting opportunities become available, please respond directly to the buyer with your capabilities.

If selected for inclusion in the Super Bowl LI Business Connect Resource Guide, your business will be listed by the primary good or service you select in your application.

50 Will there be any assistance to help me get my business certified?

Business owners can receive additional information from the certification partners by visiting their links on the Super Bowl LI Business Connect page. You can contact each organization individually for specific questions regarding your individual certification.
